How Velázquez photographed Las Meninas and why he did it..
Oriol Hernando, Norpas's artisan photographer, has spent the last year researching how Diego Velázquez painted his Las Meninas - one of the most famous and studied works in art history - and concluded that the painting was projected twice onto canvas and copied from this projection.
In his presentation, Hernando shows in concrete terms how the painting might have been executed. This is not a boring art lecture, but a dance of light and shadow between painting and photography.
In the painting workshop, the Las Meninas painting gets a new update. Participants will be able to experience the magical birth of the painting and also become its new characters using an old projection technique.
